This Diwali muggulu uses a 9×5 dot grid (9 to 5 chukki) and has four diyas joined by loops. It is about 1.5 ft wide and takes around 25 minutes, so it is quick enough to draw every day of the festival.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1

Place 9 dots in the middle row, then 8, 7, 6 and 5 dots in the rows above and below it.
Step 2

Draw a diamond around the centre dot and a loop around each of the four dots next to it.
Step 3

Draw a diya at the top, bottom, left and right using the outer dots.
Step 4

Connect the remaining dots with small loops, then fill the diyas orange with yellow flames and add pink between the loops.
Tips
- Draw the muggulu at sunrise on a freshly washed doorstep, as is the tradition.
