Big rangoli designs are made for competitions, weddings, office lobbies and society events. This 5 ft design has a lotus centre, a ring of peacock feathers and a diya border. It takes about 3 hours for one person, or about 1 hour for a team of three.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1

Mark the centre and draw circles at 1, 3 and 5 ft wide with a string and chalk.
Step 2

Draw a 16-petal lotus in the centre circle and fill it pink and magenta.
Step 3

Draw 16 peacock feathers in the middle ring, each with a dark green stem and a blue, sky blue and green eye.
Step 4

Draw 16 small diyas around the outer ring, fill them orange with yellow flames, and outline everything in white.
Tips
- Split the circle into quarters and give each person one quarter.
- Buy colours in 500 g packs. A 5 ft rangoli uses much more than you expect.
