Kanuma is the third day of Sankranthi, when cattle are honoured. Many homes draw a ratham (chariot) muggu, with a rope pulled towards the next house. This 2.5 ft Kanuma muggulu has a ratham and two decorated cows. It takes about 50 minutes.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1

Draw a chariot (ratham) with four wheels and a pointed temple-style top.
Step 2

Draw a long rope from the front of the chariot towards the road.
Step 3

Draw two small cows in front of the chariot.
Step 4

Fill the chariot red and yellow, the wheels orange, the cows white with blue horns and orange garlands, and outline in white.
Tips
- Traditionally the ratham rope is joined to the neighbour’s muggu, linking homes together.
