Rangoli kolam mixes the white line work of a kolam with the bright colours of a rangoli. This one uses a 13×7 interlaced grid that forms a flower with bright coloured loops. It is 2 ft wide and takes about 35 minutes.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1

Put 13 dots in the middle row, reducing by one per row to 7 above and below.
Step 2

Draw a white 8-petal flower around the centre and loops around the dots between the petals.
Step 3

Draw a white scalloped border around the outer dots.
Step 4

Fill the petals magenta, the centre yellow, the loops green and blue, and the border orange.
Tips
- Draw all the white lines first. Colour last so you do not smudge the kolam.
